Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Long Range Transportation Study

Study Overview:

In July 2009, Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) and the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC) kicked off the 2010 Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Long Range Transportation Planning Study. ADOT is working together with the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community to study various transportation needs within the Community.

The Study is being funded by the Planning Assistance for Rural Areas (PARA) program that provides state planning and research (SPR) funds to non-metropolitan communities to conduct transportation studies. The 18-month Study process will update the Community's 2001 Long Range Transportation Plan and address roadway safety issues, walking and bicycle routes, cut-through traffic concerns and public transportation for Community members to get to the doctor, work or shopping. These transportation issues and many others impact the Community’s quality of life. The final Study will fulfill the Community's objectives by developing strategies to meet identified transportation goals and provide guidelines for making 5, 10 and 20-year transportation improvements.
