Project Summary:
This study will address a broad range of local and regional planning issues related to roadway, transit and non-motorized transportation modes. The final report will contain recommendations for improvements over five, ten and twenty year planning horizons, and a long range transportation plan incorporating both roadway and multimodal needs of the Township area. The key study objective is to aid the Township in the areas of: system performance and preservation; mobility and access for people and goods; environment and quality of life; community planning and coordination; mobility and economic competitiveness; tourism; recreation; safety; accessibility; and resource conversation. The study will also be accomplished in cooperation and collaboration with the Kayenta Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Ordinance planning process that is currently underway.
The Kayenta Township Multimodal Transportation Study will be conducted according to a cooperative planning process involving stakeholders that include public agency staff, elected tribal officials, and tribal community members. Throughout the study, information will be presented to and solicited from stakeholders through individual interviews, public meetings, and other means of communication.
